The Vision of the project
The Project’s Long Terms Goals
In Israel there are tens of thousands of military veterans who do not receive sufficient assistance from the state. Our mission is to provide a more robust response to these people who have contributed to the security of the country and to whom its citizens are indebted.
Ruca’s Farm: The Vision
We will establish an organic farm at the Moshav Hemed whose aim will be to create a unique work environment for veterans of the security forces who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder so that they will develop the capacity to live to their lives to the fullest capacity. The farm will thus stand on two pillars: the first being the agricultural business one, and the second, the therapeutic/rehabilitative.
Organic farming
On our farm we will grow vegetables, both in the open field and in greenhouses, only employing organically-licensed fertilizers. The variety of vegetables that will be grown on the farm will provide for a balanced ecosystem and the soil will be treated with attentiveness and respect in accord with the latest organic standards.
Assistance to post-trauma victims
Ruca’s Farm aims to be a therapeutic center for people with post-traumatic stress disorder and is designed to help them re-integrate into a normative, productive life for the benefit of themselves, their families, and society in general.
It is our intention to concentrate specifically on young victims with the understanding that their rehabilitation potential is high. Treatment will include psychotherapy and group therapy activities such as yoga and meditation. In addition, there will be regular weekly group meetings with the staff and the participants.
