The Agricultural Pillar
Organic agriculture is a production system that supports the health of the soil, the ecosystem, and people. This type of agriculture relies on ecological processes, recycling, and preservation of species diversity in conjunction with local conditions, while eschewing the use of substances harmful to humans and the environment.
The farm comprises some 5 acres and use of the land has been generously donated by Udi and Meirav Nativ, who actively support the project’s vision and goals. The existence of Ruca’s Farm was made possible by the Nativs’ immense generosity and vision.
On our farm we will raise raise vegetables and fruits without chemical fertilizers and without pesticides, both in the open field and in greenhouses. The variety of vegetables to be grown will provide for the well-being of the soil and a balanced ecosystem.
The seasons will dictate the growing cycles, thus saving many resources typically dedicated to pest control.
We believe that strict adherence to the strict requirements for organic agriculture in Israel will bring financial benefits as well as therapeutic and rehabilitative gains for participants in the program.
The herbs and vegetable to be grown will include lettuces of all kinds, parsley, coriander, dill, thyme, oregano, basil, chives, scallions, endive, rocket, cherry tomatoes, peppers, while our trees will produce citrus fruits.
